Digital Strategy 101

Course Description
Digital Strategy 101 will teach you the fundamentals of online organizing and digital campaign strategy, including theoretical frameworks for organizing online, developing a theory of change, communications and new media outreach, fundraising as part of your campaign or organization mission, engaging your email list in an authentic and powerful way, social media strategies, and integration with on the ground field efforts. You will also participate in a simulated campaign project to put your new skills into action.

Lecture and Demonstration:
Every Tuesday, 2:00-3:30 PM ET

Coaching and Feedback:
Every Thursday, 1:30-3:00 PM, or 5:30-7:00 PM ET

  • Introduction to Digital Strategy, Organizing, Campaigning, and Theory of Change; Introduction of Campaign Test
  • Message, Narrative, and Communication (including email, writing, blogging, text, management)
  • Money, Fundraising, and Resources (integrated online fundraising, paid advertisement, list growth)
  • Metrics, Analytics and Evaluation of Effectiveness
  • Mobilization, field integration, putting it all together
  • Presentation of Course Campaigns
